International Scholarships in Budapest to Explore

Over the recent years, Hungary has been actively looking for international students to study in their country. To this effect the government and some of the other bodies have floated scholarship programmes to seek out students from all parts of the world.

Some of the scholarships are targeted at specific countries and others are broader. In this article we talk about some of the better scholarships that are available to study in this country.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in association with the Hungarian Government

With time to come there is going to be an extreme shortage of agri professionals, perhaps even more than medical professionals. This scholarship is particularly aimed at a list of countries and also is meant for specific courses i.e. MSc. in food safety and quality engineering, horticultural engineering and Animal nutrition and feed safety. The scholarship covers tuition fees and costs towards study materials, subsistence allowance, dormitory accommodation and health insurance. More info

Stipendium Hungaricum

This scholarship which has been running for some years now and is sponsored by the Hungarian government is aimed only at international students. The scholarship covers tuition fees, HUF 43,700 towards subsistence which works out to approximately 130 Euros per month, HUF 40,000 per month towards accommodation assistance which works out to approximately 120 Euros per month and medical insurance. Even though Hungary is quite an affordable country to live in compared to West Europe, given the amount offered towards accommodation and subsistence, a student would most certainly have to look for other sources of finance to meet her/his expenses completely.
