Youth Time International Launches 2021 Idea Grant Competition

After a two-year break, the Idea Grant Competition is back with a bang. Do you have an idea that could change how we look at education in the digital world? Well, we want to hear from you.

Youth Time International Movement (YTIM) is set to unveil this year’s Idea Grant Competition with up to €10,000 up for grabs as they give young people the opportunity to help those in their age group.

Young people aged 18-35 can submit their ideas from 26th July until midnight on 6th September as they look for ideas on their theme of ‘Sustainable Education in the Transforming Digital World’.

The category is open to those who are focusing on providing educational support and/or improving the quality or access to education whilst following the UN’s sustainable goals.

The projects or ideas should take into consideration the transforming digital world. YTIM encourages you to be original, innovative, and daring. Give them an idea that is progressive and will make a big positive impact and help add to making the world that bit better.

The monetary prize is not the only thing on offer. Selected participants will also win a funded scholarship to study for a degree or a master’s in Jakarta, Indonesia at IPMI Business School.

Prizes

Not only that, but a standout participant will gain a fully-paid internship to work with IYSERT’s Lab X, a project run by former Idea Grant winner, Rakesh Biswas.

The finals, to be held at Youth Time International Movement’s Youth Global Forum, where the selected few of the Idea Grant Competition will present their ideas, is set to be held at an international location soon to be confirmed.

Not everyone can win but we still want to encourage everyone to pursue their positive impact ideas. To help with this, all submissions will be assessed via specialist consultants to provide advice and expertise on how to improve or develop your idea to be best placed to gain additional support. (subject to volume of submissions)

All submissions will be judged by an expert panel of judges, along with additional public voting on our media platforms and by the audience at the live final.

‘An Amazing Chance’

Michael Berg, Relationships Manager at YTIM, is excited to see what ideas are brought to the table for this year’s intriguing theme

He said: “The Idea Grant Competition is returning for the first time since 2019, where we held it in Amsterdam, and we can’t wait to see what entries we get this year.

“From previous winners, we have seen some incredible work achieved right around the world and this is an amazing chance to turn your idea into a reality.

“We are hoping to get the most entries in the history of the competition, so whatever your idea is to help shape your community, make sure you tell us and be in with a shot to win some incredible prizes.”

Previous winners include Aurelia Abena Attipoe (The Pitch Hub) and Shinelle Bayrd (The Wellness Center), who have benefitted from YTIM’s funding.

Entry to the competition is free but if you are selected for the finals, attendance will require a reduced administration fee of €200 (or €150 without accommodation for local participants), and travel to the event will be at the attendee’s own expense.

The fee will be a token contribution to keeping all Youth Time activities going and will only be required to be paid once selected as a finalist.

The Youth Global Forum will take place across four days, where Idea Grant Competition finalists will get the opportunity to attend the whole event, =network and meet industry experts whilst learning more about how other people are doing their best to improve education in their community.
