Work That Gives You Peace Of Mind

Last week a major publication reported about a finance expert in his 30s employed with one of the leading investment banks, chucking up his job to learn how to grow strawberries and make jams. He moved from London to Italy, bought himself a piece of land where he grows the strawberries, makes jam and has turned it into a fairly lucrative business to live on. Evidently, he doesn’t make as much money or anywhere close to what he was making as a banker but what he has bought himself is peace of mind.

Well! What is one to do if we are looking for that career that generates an adequate income and is continually stable through the implementation of artificial intelligence in the workplace?

First things first, make sure it’s the job that’s causing you stress and difficulties.

After that, do a double-check to make sure you are at peace with yourself. You cannot be successful in anything if you are distressed and unsettled. Being calm and clear headed is of supreme importance.

Added to that, do your research. Many professions are going to be lost to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Just last week, I heard about a translator from a legal firm losing her job to a new kind of software.

Here are some professions good for freelancing:

Blogger

Those who are well entrenched into the business earn anywhere between 4,000 to 20,000 dollars per month. There are several exceptions, such as Ariana Huffington and Timothy Sykes who are estimated to take home 9 figure incomes. To be a successful blogger you don’t have to have your own product. The trick here is to tie-up with well established organisations to promote their products on your blog. This can be done on a retainership or commission.

It’s not at all old fashioned to start a blog. Estimatedly, there are about 7.5 million blog posts that are published each day. Blogging will probably never be outmoded.

Search Engine Optimisation Specialist

This profession is not going to be antiquated anytime in the foreseeable future. The best course of action here is to take a specialisation course and then continue to hone up on your skills. Apart from comprehending how search engines crawl and index content, you will need to do a complete research and decide on the mechanism that works best for you and gets results.

Good SEO specialists are in short supply. An averagely competent SEO guru earns well over 100,000 dollars a year. The highly skilled ones make much more.

Social Media Content Creator

Influencer has become a dirty word for many, even though many an influencer earn a fortune. However, a real social media content creator is also an influencer. As against running your own blog, a social media content creator writes good content, often creates good graphics and uploads them across many of the media platforms. Large and small businesses are always on the lookout for good professionals in this area. The ability to network well, the same as in most professions is important. Many of the larger organisations hire these professionals for remote work and the pay is pretty good too. Upwards of 60,000 dollar per year. A good content creator can handle more than one organisation.

Accounting and bookkeeping

Finance professionals are in short supply and those who are qualified and like the work, can also work out of home. Small and medium sized companies prefer to outsource since it is more cost effective. At an average those in this profession earn 20 to 60 dollars an hour depending on the country they are based in.

The key to any profession where you are looking for peace of mind is to be able to work at your own pace and have a work and life balance. Those who do not live in urban areas and have access to land, growing specialty herbs, making cheese, or even growing tomatoes is an option. No kind of food will ever go out of style. With affordability going up and the population growing the demand will only keep increasing.
