In our last article we introduced you to Dublin. This time we shall talk about the universities in the rest of the Republic of Ireland.
All of these universities attract students from the world over. At the same time, we must remind you, since the structure of the university fees in Ireland is a little complicated which has been explained in our previous article, a good percentage of the international students are from the EEA and EU because undergraduate studies for them are free.
Cost of Living
Most of the universities covered this time charge tuition fees comparatively less or much less than the universities in Dublin. Added to that the cost of living in these university cities is relatively less and you must budget for 1,200 to 1,500 Euros towards your monthly expenses, inclusive of shared accommodations.
For those who wish to earn and learn, the minimum wages in Ireland are not bad at all. Presently, it is 9.80 Euros per hour and as rumors go this should be increased marginally in the next month or two. A student is allowed to work 20 hours a week and 40 hours per week during vacations. If you have any special skills such as art or are able to work as a draftsperson or a designer, you can easily expect around 17 to 20 Euros per hour. Otherwise, the fast food chains pay either the minimum wage or close to it.
Some of the universities also have more than one campus.
Technology has been one of the focus areas in Ireland and thus there is no dearth of institutes of technology most of which fall within the best 1 percent in the world.
