Two Of The Greatest Cities In The U.S. – Boston and Chicago In Pictures

Founded by the earliest British settlers in what they named as New England is historically best known for the Boston Tea Party when tea shipped by the British East India Company was to be sold without taxes in the U.S. This led to protests by the local settlers who would have lost their own tea business due to being rendered uncompetitive. They decided to raid the ship carrying the tea and dump it into the sea. The protest led to the revolution that eventually set the U.S. free from British colonisation.

Today, and for many years now Boston has been one of the major centres of education in the U.S. in addition to being a leading tourist destination. The per capita income is one of the highest in the region and the city is one of the top most economically powerful cities in the world.

The city is also known for its architecture.

Chicago on the other hand is best known for the Great Fire of 1871. While this fire destroyed a good part of the city and many people lost their lives and homes, it also started an explosion in the rate of construction. Thereon, the city progressed into being one of the most diversified and industrialized cities in the U.S. Not only is this city cosmopolitan, the variety of industries it has is probably what no other city in the U.S. does. It’s also known as the windy city. Thankfully, a good part of the winds are broken by the skyscrapers.
