The popularity of podcasts has risen to exponential levels in recent times. Whether it be the ease of which they can be accessed or the relaxed, informal yet informative setting they seem to create; several podcasts have become an integral part of our daily lives. Every week, we will take a look at podcasts from the world over to help you find the podcast that is perfect for you. This week, it’s the True Geordie Podcast.
The True Geordie, real name Brian Davis, is a name that has come from literal obscurity to becoming a somewhat cult-figure in the YouTube community.
In 2013, The True Geordie uploaded a five-minute video tearing into Newcastle United football player, Nile Ranger that looked like it was filmed on a Nokia 3310. Six years later, his channel boasts over 1.5 million subscribers and has become the voice for major sporting occasions within the world of YouTube.
From a television play-by-play announcer to a world-famous podcaster
Brian has previously been called into action to commentate on charity football matches, including at Wembley Stadium, with his most recent commentary duty saw him preside over the most viewed white collar boxing event in history at the KSI vs Logan Paul boxing match which steamed live to over 1.8 million people with the view count reaching 20 million views in the following days
At the heart of Brian’s content is his flagship show, The True Geordie podcast.
Whilst his content is lacking in regularity, the quality is certainly not with former guests on the show varying in stature, standing and background.

Episodes vary week to week with content of the podcast driven from demand by his viewers.
Previous editions have seen Brian welcome guests such as UK pop sensation Robbie Williams (episode #74); comedy legend Ricky Gervais (episode #109) and head coach of MMA and UFC superstar the ‘Notorious’ Connor McGregor, John Kavanagh (episode #106).
Away from the mainstream the True Geordie podcast has reviewed a number of trending issues and topics which have included the controversial Netflix Documentary ‘Leaving Neverland’ (episode #111), which follows the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who allege they were sexually abused as children by the singer Michael Jackson.
Don’t be afraid to be a little controversial
The podcast, which is regularly co-hosted by XO co-creator Laurence Mckenna, never seems to shy away from the challenging topics of conversation.
Leading up to the boxing match, Brian sat down with controversial Youtuber and main eventer, Logan Paul (episode #99), to lift the lid on the leader of the ‘Lo-gang’ and his controversies in 2018 that lead to Logan becoming a public hate figure to online figures and mainstream media following his upload of a video that showcased his finding of a dead body in Japans infamous ‘suicide forest’.
The lack of empathy shown by Logan in not only uploading the video but also his showcasing of insensitivity caused a huge uproar in the online community, not the least from the True Geordie himself who launched an almost 10-minute tirade targeting the social influencer for his actions.
Despite the obvious differences between the two, the two were able to come together for an episode of the True Geordie Podcast that is not to be missed.
Both Laurence Mckenna and Brian Davis deserve credit for creating a platform that is both insightful and educational to the millions of listeners that are already regulars to the True Geordie Podcast.
