Seven Wonders Of The World Before And Now

Every era has a certain pride for its accomplishments. The traditions of naming the wonders of the world has existed since the ancient times. The list changes depend upon various factors. Which are the seven wonders of the world today and how they used to be. Come with us and discover.

The number seven associated with the wonders of the world is not just random. The number was related to the Gods and believed to be the perfect number. Those days although the known planets were 5, with the inclusion of the Sun and the Moon the number was again, lucky seven.

The ancient list was often changed and paradoxically the final list was actually reached only around the 18th century AD by which time most of the wonders actually didn´t stand. This started the dialogue if these ever actually existed. Which are the ones?

Colossus of Rhodes

Great Pyramid of Giza

Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Lighthouse of Alexandria

Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

Statue of Zeus at Olympia

Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

Similarly, during the new age the list of the wonders has been ambiguous and thus differences have been created. It was only in 2007 that people from all over the world voted to arrive at the wonders of the world of today. This list is not agreed upon by UNESCO since the list is based on voting on the internet organized by a private foundation.

Great Wall of China

Petra, Jordan

The Colosseum, Rome, Italy

Chichen Itza, Yucatán, Mexico

Machu Picchu, Cuzco Region, Peru

Taj Mahal, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India

Christ the Redeemer,Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Plus Giza Pyramids got an honorary status.

From the above it’s understandable that even till date there’s no mutual agreement among the different organizations on what the final list should be. On the other hand the number seven still remains 🙂
