Open Society Fellowship Calls for Young Activists from Around the World

Applications are open for the Open Society Fellowship founded in 2008 to support individuals pursuing innovative and unconventional approaches to fundamental open society challenges. The funds of the fellowship are aimed at enriching public understanding of such challenges and stimulating conversations within the Open Society Foundations and in the world. The deadline is February 2nd 2015.

Journalists, young activists, academics, and policy practitioners from around the world are welcome to apply and to submit their project proposals. The fellowship will include a stipend of 80,000-100,000 USD per year plus a project budget for travel, visa costs and health insurance. The stipend will depend on work experience and current income. Duration of the fellowship is usually one year but application requests for shorter or longer terms will also be considered.

The selected fellows will get an opportunity to join the diverse community of the foundation, a global network of activists and institutions dedicated to defending civil society and improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable citizens. Most fellows will spend a part of their fellowship term at one of the organization’s main offices that are located in New York, Washington, London, Brussels and Budapest, or at a regional foundation.

Eligible applicants should possess a deep understanding of their chosen subject area and a track record of professional accomplishment. The fellowship considers applicants from all over the world. All interested candidates should register and complete the online application form as well as submit supporting materials for consideration. The form can be found here.
