Co-incidence perhaps but the first roundabout was created by the British soon after the industrial revolution began. So they go back into history. The Germans would argue they were the first to create them. Whatever the fact behind it, roundabouts or traffic circles as the British call them are usually not only of a great convenience for a smooth flow of traffic but some of them have become the best of landmarks given their beauty and opulence.
