When we think of Burgundy we think wines. It’s true that the region produces some of the finest wines in the world. The wines from this region are much lighter than Bordeaux, in colour and body and preferred by many.
The university of Dijon attracts many foreign students from all over the world.
The city of Dijon itself is quite magnificent. Apart from the cathedrals, most of the old buildings are preserved and go as far back as 300 years since Dijon was relatively unaffected by the wars. In addition to the usual such as cafes and nightclubs some students look for, Dijon has one of the largest indoor markets where you find everything from fresh farm produce including cheeses, French street food and a vast variety of meats to the cafes that lie just outside the market. Here you’ll find people from all walks of life and many nationalities.
The region of Burgundy has a lot to offer, not just the wines and Dijon mustard. While a visit to the vineyards should be on your list you may also want to lose yourself in nature. The region has one of the largest networks of rivers and canals encompassed by natural beauty. Many of the rivers, tributaries and canals are accessible by boat and are home to a vast variety of birds.
Though it has been said the meek shall inherit the Earth, the French appear to have perfected the combination of politeness and firmness and in the region of Burgundy you’ll probably find the mix of these two attributes being put to use at their best. You may well want to be polite and clearly self-assured while living in France.

Cost of Living
Shared accommodations are fairly easy to find in Dijon and its outskirts and on a budget of 1100 to 1200 $ per month you’ll be able to live fairly respectably. This, in addition to your fees.
