If you think that only a person with no fantasy can consider a movie based on a book, you may want to think it again. We at YT have prepared for you, 5 movies that were actually better then the book. Why? Find out with us.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Bridget Jones was originally written as columns in The Independent by Helen Fielding. The popularity went so high, it led to a book. Seeing the columns it is difficult to believe why they were so warmly accepted. Nevertheless, with them the single London 30-something was born to shine on the screens soon after. And it was thanks to Renée Zellweger who took her alter ego with the seriousness of her own and helped the movie to great success.
Forrest Gump
Who would not love Forrest Gump and his simplicity of life that at the end everybody would want to achieve with his inspiring nonchalance. Truth is that the book by Winston Groom did not represent Forrest so touchingly as the movie. Needless to mention, the popularity Forrest Gump achieved in the movie halls and the number of awards it won, among which were the 6 Oscars.
The Godfather
Movie based on the book by Maria Puzo. Although the book is undoubtedly a bestseller, authentically describing the mafia family of Corleone in New York, represented by Don Vito, the movie trilogy directed by Francis Ford Coppola, under the wings of Paramount Pictures has plenty to offer too. Coppola managed, despite reducing the book, to truly capture the family hierarchy and the inner functioning of the mafia family in New York, in the middle of the last century, more than well. Importantly enough, even the most loyal fans of the book did agree, the movie was, if not better, at least as good as the book.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Adaptation of the bestseller by Ken Kesey and an enormous success for Miloš Forman. The movie won many awards, among them 5 Oscars. Movies like this always find it difficult to surmount the original. However, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is an evergreen film in many aspects. The Oscars it earned, do talk for what it is: Best movie, best Director, best Actor and Actress and best adapted screenplay. You can only judge by yourself.
Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank Redemption is the movie based on the book by Stephen King. What made the film simply better was the fact that it wasn’t one of the bestsellers by the author. The movie was well made which is only underlined by the number of Oscar nominations it received.
