In recent couple of weeks a new mini series about Chernobyl has premiered on the television and scored a phenomenal success. Tourism in the area has since hiked up significantly. According to those who were present at the real event, thus far, this series by HBO comes closest to the real events.
It has been 33 years since the disaster at Chernobyl but life goes on. There are altogether 1500 people still working at the power plant. Others who have entered the zone ‘illegally’ and run grocery shops, grow their own livestock and crops. Although Pripyat is obviously no longer the exemplary town it was, people have been back. Yes, life goes on.
