Indian Movies That Made An Impression

For this weekend we have chosen a few Indian movies that made quite an impression. There are two true stories from the sports environment and the other one is moving drama.

Dangal
When you don´t have a son to follow your steps as a wrestler there is still a daughter to become one. Or even better – two of them. Mahavir Singh Phogat was a wrestler who had the desire to win a gold medal for India. He swore that his son would be even better. Except Mahavir Singh Phogat didn’t have a son. Instead he when on to have four daughters. His hopes for a gold medal were vanishing until an incident that made him think his two oldest daughters could become wrestlers. Geeta and Babita Phogat went on to become legends in the sport.

Udaan
An enormously engaging film about a teenager who after 8 years in a boarding school arrives home to his father only to find that he has a six years old step brother. They both have a tough time with their father who has severe problems and both the sons face constant physical and mental abuse. Finally the elder one realizes nothing can change their father and decides to escape with the younger sibling.

Mary Kom
Mary Kom is a true story about the trials and tribulations of a poor girl who through sheer hard work and will became a boxing champion. She had to deal with racism, discrimination and corruption to prove her worth. Captivating.
