Five Movies That Predicted The Future

Today’s movie selection is about the movie makers of the past forecasting the future. These movies uncannily shed light on future events and products.

I Killed Einstein, Gentlemen (Zabil jsem Einsteina, pánové… ) (1969)

This excellent Czechoslovakian movie with element of sci-fi, from the late 1960s is based on and idea how much the future would have been influenced if Albert Einstein had not existed. The film is one of the great examples of good movies being made even during communism. During one scene the main character displays a device that closely resembles, what we know today as a selfie stick.

Back to the Future II. (1989)

The trilogy, Back to the future is full of interesting moments about the products, the future was to bring. While the first part deals with the past, the later film, part II of the trilogy is abound with cool gadgets that need no introduction. These include video calling and self lacing shoes. The shoes were actually introduced by Nike, this year. The film missed the target by just a year.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

In this film when the relationship between Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet turns into a sufferting, they seek out a company that specializes in erasing of the memory. Problem solved. The movie was produced in 2004 and just over a decade later the American Psychological Association announced that memory erasing would soon become a reality for those with post traumatic stress disorder and similar.

Woman in the Moon (1929)

From a different category is this film fromt he late 1920s. This silent, black and white movie narrates a story of the first human on the moon. Familiar? Only decades later, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin actually walked on the moon.

Total Recall (1990)

Action sci-fi from the 1990s where you see among other gizmos, the automatic taxi. Self driving vehicles have been introduced since then and have also been put into daily use in some countries.
