Films That Provoked an Outrage

Many films have been produced and have been thought provoking. In my memory, no film has caused more anger and rage than the three we recommend for you for watching this weekend. It’s a different matter that two of them are comedies.

The List of Films That Provoked an Outrage

Triumph of the Will

It is said that difficult times bring out the best among people, such as during the Tsunami when even the injured and those who had lost their loved ones went all out to help others irrespective of skin colour and so on.

However, it has also been proven, difficult times also bring out the vile and vicious among a significant percentage of people which is how some evil individuals get elected.

This propaganda film is affirmed by many as the ‘best’ about Nazi Germany and is banned in Germany itself. The film made by Leni Riefenstahl, herself an actress and a director, excelled with the making of this film from the technical aspects to the content and all in between.

Monty Python’s Life of Brian

An out and out comedy and a satire written by a brilliant group of talented people and directed by the acclaimed Terence Jones, himself an actor, writer, comedian, film director and a historian, created quite an uproar among the zealots and the fanatics.

Not just that, even those who had committed to finance the film, withdrew at the eleventh hour and the movie was finally financed by George Harrison of the Beatles group.

To put it briefly, the film is about the story of Brian Cohen, a Jewish man who is mistaken for Jesus.

Borat

The inimitable Sacha Baron Cohen plays the role of a Kazakh journalist who travels through the United States and pretends to make a documentary.

In the process, he is able to expose the bigotry and intolerance among various classes of people. Not only did this great comedy cause a gross feeling of resentment among the Kazakhs but also angered many into filing legal suits against Cohen.
