Films For Fashion Fans

After one of our previous issues, dedicated to fashion in movies here comes a list of documentaries looking under the lid of the fashion industry from the first hand. All highly rated documentaries from the areas the average person doesn't at look every day.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

This film, directed by Matt Trynauer is about the life of Valentino Garavani. The famous designer who was among those who ruled the fashion industry, is documented very well and the film focuses on his last two years when he was concerned about the motives of the corporation taking over his life’s work.

The September Issue

The film is about the ultimate guide to the fashion industry, Vogue and August is the month when the devotees of the fashion world begin scrambling to get a copy of the issue. The film portrays the inner workings of the Vogue magazine and all that it takes to come out with the September issue.

Iris

“It’s better to be happy than well dressed” or “If you make a mistake in what you put together, the fashion police are not going to haul you into jail.”

Her quote speaks for itself. When somebody is her own person like Iris Apfel is. You just want to watch her, no matter whether you are a fan of her personal style or not. It’s her style. Simple.

Bill Cunningham New York

This is a film about the decades during which the fanatic enthusiast Bill Cunningham persued fashion and wrote about it in the New York Times, leaving no stone unturned, including unflaggingly following and taking pictures of celebrities and the average New Yorker and writing about the ones facinatingly dressed.
