The years and the decades go by but the exceptional and extraordinary work of cinema remains. These timeless films go on seeing their re-runs and never fail to impress. For your watching pleasure for this weekend we have these everlasting films to recommend.

More about movies reviews discover on the Mr.Sweetreview blog.

Psycho

This film by Alfred Hitchcock is an all time favourite. The film revolves around Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins who had a challenging relationship with his mother, Marion Crane played by Janet Leigh and her boyfriend Sam Loomis played by John Gavin. On one hand are two thieves and on the other is a psycho. The drama keeps you firmly on your seat right till the end.

Sunset Boulevard

Violence, lunacy and death define this movie. The screenplay for this movie was written by a team of three. The film is about an acclaimed actress of the silent film era who is now outmoded but wants to make a comeback. The young screenwriter she hires to meet her goals turns out to be a manipulative scoundrel. Will he succeed with his agenda or will the film take unexpected twists and turns? Watch to find out. All the big names including Gloria Swanson, William Holden and Cecil Demille have done a great job.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

The film is worth watching just for the presence of the delicate, charming and beautiful Audrey Hepburn though the film has much more. This romantic comedy with Hepburn and George Peppard will keep you smiling most of the time. Regretfully, all good things must come to an end.

The Shawshank Redemption

Not from the same era as the above three this 90’s film will remain a classic. The lead actors Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman make you actually feel for the characters they play. Andy Dufresne (Robbins) is sentenced for the murders of his wife and her lover and meets Red (Freeman) in prison. Will they escape, will they not and what will happen while they are in prison. Every moment keeps you glued.
