WildTech Reporting Fellowship for Remote Writers

Writers are invited to take part in a six-month part-time remote fellowship at Mongabay website and cover conservation technology topics. Fellows will write six stories and conduct six interviews and receive an honorarium of $5,000.

Mongabay offers Sue Palminteri WildTech Reporting Fellowship. Mongabay is the world’s most popular rainforest information site and a well-known source of environmental news reporting and analysis. It is commonly used as an information source by mainstream media, including The Economist, Bloomberg, National Geographic, and the Associated Press.  The fellowship is named after Sue Palminteri – Mongabay’s WildTech Editor and  conservation biologist who passed away on 30 November, 2019. Trained as a conservation biologist, Sue sought out and highlighted new technology developments of use to the conservation and research communities. She earned her PhD studying primate ecology in Peru.

The WildTech Reporting Fellow will be writing roughly six news stories and six interviews on a variety of conservation technology topics over a course of a six-month commitment. Topics will be assigned to the fellow by one of the editors. The Mongabay fellow will work closely with Mongabay journalists and receive writing guidelines and feedback on their news stories before publication. This is a part-time program. The Fellow will be working virtually (at home or wherever they feel most productive) and receive a $5,000 honorarium for the duration of the program.

The deadline is on 5 June 2020.
