UK Training Fellowships for Doctors and Researchers

Early career researchers, doctors, vets, dentists, and recent PhD graduates are invited to participate in a three-year-long fellowship program at a host organization in the UK. The program will provide a salary as well as additional travel, visa, and healthcare coverage. The deadline is on 5 November 2020.

The Wellcome Trust is offering International Training Fellowships for Doctors, the 2020-21 academic year.

Wellcome is a global charitable foundation that supports scientists and researchers, take on big problems, fuel imagination, and spark debate.

Their scheme offers nationals of low and middle-income countries the opportunity to receive training at the postgraduate or postdoctoral level.

The International Training Fellowship is for three years, unless you want to hold it on a part-time basis.

If you want to do Master’s training or a diploma course relevant to the research proposal, the fellowship can last up to four years. You must be able to justify this training.

The support includes a basic salary.

If Wellcome is going to pay your salary on the grant, you can ask for visa and work permit costs to help you take up the post at your host organisation.

You can also ask for visa, health surcharge, and travel costs for your partner and dependent children health surcharge personal removal expenses.

The deadline is on 5 November 2020.

 

Main Criteria

You can apply for an International Training Fellowships for Doctors if you’re a national of a low- or middle-income country.

Your proposed research should focus on a health priority and you should have sponsorship from an eligible host organization.

Candidates should have a PhD and be early career researchers, have a degree in a relevant subject and some initial research experience, or be a clinically qualified doctor, vet, dentist or clinical psychologist.
