Tor Books Fall 2020 Virtual Internship Program

Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror enthusiasts are invited for a paid remote internship at Tor Books publishing company. Interns will learn more about editorial, marketing, publicity in book publishing, as well as digital magazine production. The deadline is on 7 August 2020.

Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, a publishing company based in New York City. It primarily publishes science fiction and fantasy titles. The company also publishes Starscape and Tor Teen, imprints for readers 13 years of age and older. The company’s website Tor.com  focuses on short works such as novellas, shorter novels and serializations.

Interns are invited for a paid, part-time, remote internship starting in the fall of 2020. Applicants who identify with groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry are strongly encouraged to apply. Interns will work no more than 25 hours per week. Placements are anticipated to start in late September and will continue through mid-December/early January. If needed, there may be some flexibility in regards to the duration of the internship. Interns are paid $15/hour.

Main criteria

Candidates should have graduated from high school, be over the age of 18, and be eligible to work in the U.S. Applicants should submit their cover letter and elaborate on their preferred tasks and areas of book publishing that they are interested in learning more about during the internship.
