The Ultimate Music Events In Europe In 2017

If the announcements so far are any indicators, the year 2017 will be full of extraordinary music events all around Europe. As spring is approaching and cold weather is behind us, we cannot wait for some great live music of different genres in open air concerts all across the continent. Hoping that you are as excited as we are about the live music of 2017, we have drawn up a top 4 list of this year’s ultimate European music events, which have already released preliminary information about their programs.

Sziget Festival

One of the biggest in Europe, the Sziget Festival will be held between 9 and 16 August on the so-called “Island of Freedom”, Obudai-sziget Island in northern Budapest, Hungary.

The week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile student event in 1993 to become one of the most prominent European festivals, with about half of all visitors coming from outside of Hungary, especially from Western Europe. In 2016 it reached an all-time peak attendance with 496,000 visitors from 95 countries. It is now being increasingly labeled as a European alternative to the Burning Man festival due to its unique features (“an electronically amplified, warped amusement park that has nothing to do with reality”).

The first names that have already shown up on this year’s line-up are Bad Religion, Crystal Fighters, and DJ Shadow, and you can already buy a 7-day pass for 299 Euros.

Primavera Sound

The Primavera Sound festival – considered to be one of the greatest in Europe – will host Arcade Fire, The xx, and Bon Iver in its 17th year. It will also feature names like Aphex Twin, Glass Animals, Grace Jones, Mac DeMarco, Sain Etienne, and Van Morrison. As always, it will take place between the end of May and the beginning of June in Barcelona, Spain and Oporto, Portugal. The nature of the festival and the wide range of bands represented have made Primavera Sound a meeting place for artists and spectators of all ages.

The festival has always succeeded in bringing together in its line-up both the latest independent music trends and artists with established careers, while presenting all styles and genres and being fully committed to quality pop, rock, and the most underground tendencies of electronic and dance music.

Ultra Festival

Located in the beautiful Croatian seaside city of Split, this new but promising electro music festival offers huge DJ names, mind-blowing visuals, and more side-parties than you can imagine. Recent editions have featured names like David Guetta and The Chemical Brothers, who each touched down alongside a pilgrimage of dance music fans from around the world, eager to party like they’ve never done before.

Visitors to the festival will enjoy beach parties, boat parties, and pretty much endless music from the moment the festival begins, between 14 and 16 July this year.

EXIT Festival

Exit is an award-winning summer music festival which is held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. The festival, founded in 2000 in the University park as a student movement, moved to the Petrovaradin fortress in 2001.

The location is unique in the festival world as it is considered to be one of the largest and most beautiful European medieval fortresses. The location offers superb acoustics, accomodating multiple events and allowing them to take place one next to another at the same time, without any sound interference.

This year, the festival will be held between 6 and 9 July and will host some great musicians such as Liam Gallagher, Hardwell, Jake Bugg, and others.

Whether you choose to visit the EXIT Festival this year, or any of the others listed above – be prepared for lots of fun, great atmosphere, and great people. All of these events have proven to be some of the best European music events of recent years.
