Sub-Saharan Africa Graduate Scholarships

The University of British Columbia is partnering with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program to provide comprehensive scholarships to graduate students from Sub-Saharan Africa. The foundation covers all expenses associated with UBC tuition, housing and food. Scholars also receive a monthly stipend. The deadline is on 6 November 2020.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is a 10-year global initiative to educate and develop next-generation leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa who will contribute to social and economic progress. The Program enables young people from economically disadvantaged communities to complete quality secondary and tertiary education, and make successful transitions to further education, or to the workforce in their home countries.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program covers all expenses associated with the University of British Columbia tuition, housing and food. Scholars also receive a stipend each month to support their lives in Vancouver. Students must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to give back and how your education will contribute towards the transformation of your community, your region or your country in Africa. Candidates need to submit their personal statements covering social initiatives they implemented in their communities and reasons for applying for the scholarship. A CV and two reference letters are also required. Candidates can apply for master programs in sustainable forest management, geomatics, land and food systems, food science, data science, or related fields.

The deadline is on 6 November 2020.
