In 2015, the University of Pennsylvania plans to introduce an academic course called “Waste of time on the Internet”. According to The Huffington Post, it was suggested by the English language department of the university, and professor Kenneth Goldsmith in particular. He is better known as the originator of the drive to print all information available on the Internet on paper. Presumably, the seminar will take three hours of study time per week. Students will not be allowed to talk to each other as they will be constantly chatting on social networks with other Internet users. The results of this work will be used to create a “literary composition”. Students will also be required to read books written by Raymod Williams, John Cage, and Betty Friedan in order to explore the “extensive history of wasting time”.
