Every woman possesses a great mystery and is capable of great achievements, be those in politics or culture, war or the stage. Through the photo project of this issue we are going to tell five stories of five ordinary residents of our planet. We will show that every woman is capable of color, subtlety, and depth, regardless of her occupation, national recognition, or the age she is living in. At all times woman remains one of the most complex and sophisticated of nature’s creations.
Nino Mchedlidze, 28 years old, born in Tbilisi (Georgia). She is a dentist and the owner of a cosmetic surgery clinic called Medi Estheti. In both her professional and personal life she is a true actress.
Marlene Dietrich (1901 – 1992), a German and American actress and singer. Her image stands out to this day and is one of the most perfectly realized female cinematic images.
Alina Nanu, 23 years old, born in Moldova. She is a prima ballerina at the Prague National Theatre. She is a colonel in spirit and a fire on stage.
Joan of Arc (or The Maid of Orleans) (1412-1431) is a national heroine in France. As one of the Commanders of the French troops in the Hundred Years’ War, she liberated the city of Orleans and the King, Charles VII. In the end she was captured by the Burgundians, who turned her over to the English. Joan of Arc was tried by a church court, convicted as a witch, and sentenced to be burned at the stake. In 1920 she was canonized by the Catholic Church.
Anastasia Petrova, 30 years old, moved from Russia. She is working at a construction site and loves Esenin’s poetry. She used to dream of becoming a ballet-dancer.
Isadora Duncan (1887-1927) was a ground-breaking American dancer and the founder of free-form dance. She developed a new system of dance and calisthenics, which took inspiration from Greek art. From 1922-1924 she was married to the Russian poet Sergey Esenin.
Aida Omarova, born in Dagestan, has been living in Prague for the past 15 years. An architect and designer, she is the owner of Aida-Hom, the biggest design-studio in Prague. Coco Chanel is her role model.
Coco Chanel (1882 – 1971) was a French fashion designer and the founder of the Chanel fashion empire. Her immense influence over the style and fashion of the twentieth century cannot be overestimated.
Galina Gusliar moved from Ukraine and has been living in London. Her job is to maintain order in the streets, and she feels like a queen there.
Catherine the Great (1729-1796) was a Russian empress who during her rule managed to lead the country into the circle of the most eminent European states. Her time is often referred to as the Golden age of the Russian Empire. It was a time of extensive reforms in government. It was then that the country strengthened its position in the Black Sea region – Crimea, Eastern Georgia and the Prikubansky region were added to Russia’s territory. Catherine corresponded with Voltaire and other participants in the French Enlightenment. She herself wrote a number of works of fiction, journalism, and even popular-science.
