Africa’s Business Heroes
Applications are open for Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) for the year 2022. The project aims to be diverse by allowing entrepreneurs of all African countries, industries, and ages to apply in English and French if their businesses are legally eligible, situated in an African country, and have a three-year track record.
Organization
ABH aspires to identify, encourage, and catch the imagination of African entrepreneurs who are making a difference in people’s lives, addressing pressing issues, and building a more sustainable and inclusive economy for the future.
The organization’s mission is to strengthen the African entrepreneur ecosystem by identifying, telling stories, training, and awarding grant funding to 100 Africa’s Business Heroes across Africa over the next 10 years.
Benefits
Every year, 10 finalists are selected to compete in the ABH grand finale pitch competition and participate in a TV show that is broadcast online and across the continent. The finalists compete for a share of $1.5 million in grant money.
Eligibility
ABH has strict eligibility criteria:
- The applicant should be the founder or co-founder of the company.
- The applicant is of African origin. You have African citizenship, and/or a parent or grandparent has African citizenship.
- The company is Africa-based. The business is registered in an African country and primarily operates in Africa.
- The company is in the post-idea stage. The business has been in operation for at least three years and has revenue for at least three years.
Deadline
The last day to apply for the opportunity is June 6, 2022.

Avisen Legal Business Law Scholarship
Avisen Legal Business Firm is offering scholarships for two law students focusing on business law, and applications for this year are open.
Organization
Avisen is founded and staffed entirely by lawyers with entrepreneurial backgrounds who are ardent advocates and want to build something for themselves, whether it’s a new business or a legal profession. As the cost of attending law school continues to climb substantially, Avisen Legal wishes to assist the next generation of lawyers in ensuring that quality legal education is attainable. This team comprises entrepreneurs with over 20 years of experience working in various business legal disciplines. The group assists enterprises such as non-profits, tech startups, the energy & ag-tech industries, etc.
Benefits
The Avisen Legal Business Law Scholarship provides two $1,000 awards for each fall and spring semester and is awarded to two different students.
Eligibility
All are welcome to apply for the Avisen Legal Business Law Scholarship.
- Applicants must be interested in exploring a law degree that focuses on the business field, including, but not limited to: business law, employment law, entrepreneurial law, estate and succession plan, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, or other related fields.
- BIPOC applicants and applicants from historically underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Deadline
The deadline for applications for the fall semester is June 30, 2022. For the spring semester, the application deadline is November 30, 2022.

ReelSkills for Agribusiness (R4A) Training Program 2022
Application for the ReelSkills for Agribusiness (R4A) Training Program 2022 is open. It is a platform that supports agri-business firms by making the youth equipped with the skills they need in the field.
Organization
The ReelSkills for Agribusiness (R4A) is a training, and job-matching project focused on equipping 1000 young people, 60 percent of them women, with fundamental skills to succeed in the agri-processing sector in Nigeria.
Benefits
The applicant can choose from the two training programs — Digital Sales and Marketing or Food Processing. The Government of the Netherlands will bear the cost of the program.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- The age should be between 18 to 35 years.
- The applicant should not be working in any firm or sector. However, they can be self-employed.
- Has a minimum qualification of SSCE level for the processing track and OND level for the Digital Marketing and Sales track.
- Should not be a student and has five days a week to get trained in Lagos.
Deadline
The opportunity does not have a specific deadline. The program takes place on a rolling basis.
