The ECML offers paid traineeships that lasts for 6 months in general and are held twice a year. The deadline for application form is on 31st of August.

The scheme which the ECML now offers is the result of a learning process and is adapted to meet the needs both of the Centre and the trainees themselves. According to their field of interest, applicants can choose the main area in which they would like to be involved, including organization of events, the Centre’s website, finances and general administration, and documentation and resources.

Trainees receive a subsistence allowance of approximately €720 per month, which is transferred by the Council of Europe at the end of each month.

Main criteria

  • In order to qualify for a traineeship at the ECML you must hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and have a good command of at least one of the Council of Europe’s working languages (English or French) though knowledge of both is advantageous and might make the difference in order to get selected;
  • Trainees must be flexible, well-organized and capable of working in an international team;
  • Other requirements depend on the work area.

Due to the high number of applications, preference is given to applicants from ECML member states or currently studying in ECML member states.
