New America’s Fellows Programme invites thinkers – journalists, scholars, filmmakers, and public policy analysts – to participate in a year-long fellowship programme. The goal is to allow bright minds to make progress on impactful projects of their choosing. This could be writing a book, developing a series of articles, producing a documentary, and more. The deadline is on Monday 1st February 2021.
New America is a think tank and civic innovation platform in the United States.
It focuses on a range of public policy issues, including national security studies, technology, asset building, health, gender, energy, education, and the economy.
The National Fellows programme provides funding to support talented individuals and builds a community grounded in cohort gatherings that take place throughout the year.
Fellows advance ideas through research, reporting, analysis, and storytelling.
There is no set template for a successful fellowship project. Some projects focus on furthering a new public policy idea through either a domestic or international lens, while others illuminate longstanding dilemmas of American life from new angles.
Stipends generally fall into the following levels: $15,000-$30,000. There is no need for candidates to address stipends, budgets, etc. in their proposal. Instead, please use the space in your ‘Statement of Interest’ to pitch your idea.
The deadline is on Monday 1st February 2021.
Main Criteria
- The fellowship is open to journalists, scholars, filmmakers, and public policy analysts.
- Applications from non-US citizens and candidates who are based abroad are also accepted.
- Previous applicants who were rejected can apply again.
