Music Essay Contest: Win a Trip to Amsterdam

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is inviting young people in Europe aged 18 to 30 to submit their own essays while the RCO meets Europe initiative is under way. Essays should be at least 300, and no more than 500, words long, focusing on the role that music (classical or another genre) plays in the essayist’s own life.

Those having penned the best essays will be invited to spend a cultural weekend in Amsterdam. The best essays will also be published following RCO meets Europe.

  • Czech Republic- 1 October 2018
  • France – 1 October 2018
  • Bulgaria – 1 October 2018
  • Malta – 1 October 2018
  • Cyprus – 1 October 2018
  • Poland – 1 October 2018
  • Lithuania – 1 October 2018
  • Latvia – 1 October 2018
  • Estonia – 1 October 2018
  • Finland – 1 October 2018
  • Sweden – 1 October 2018
  • Denmark – 1 October 2018
  • Croatia – 1 October 2018

Main criteria

  • Participants must be at least 18, and no older than 30, years of age;
  • The essay must be at least 300, and no more than 500, words long;
  • The essay should preferably be submitted in English.
