Candidates working towards a degree in life sciences are invited to apply to a microbiology internship in Brixham, England. Interns will apply immunoassay techniques, including bacterial culture, antibody characterisation, and immuno-magnetic separation technology to assay development for bacterial targets. The deadline is on 5 December 2020.
Apply for Microbiology Internship
The Microbiology Internship is provided by ESPA, a platform offering free internships in the UK and Ireland. ESPA provides six-month minimum work placements abroad for international undergraduates into corporate companies and small and medium-sized enterprises throughout the UK and Ireland.
Working with research scientists, candidates will be involved in novel assay development for bacterial targets.
Interns will work with bacterial culture in both liquid and agar media. Other tasks will include determining antibody selectivity and specificity against a range of target antigens, antibody coupling to magnetic beads, and immuno-separation of microbial targets.
Interns will prepare food samples for assay evaluation and conduct detection of bacterial antigen using Limulus assay and molecular techniques.
All of ESPA’s services are free for students and alumni. The benefits include paid accommodation, utility bills, and internet access. For all internships over six months, additional benefits will be paid.
The deadline is on 5 December 2020.
Applicants should be working towards a degree in microbiology, immunology, or related life sciences. Academic or industrial laboratory experience relevant to biological research and development is required.
Good spoken and written English levels of at least CEFR B2 are required.
