Students with excellent academic record are invited to apply for a full scholarship to study at Maastricht University. The funding will cover tuition fees, accommodation, board, and living expenses for a year-long Master’s programme. The deadline is on Thursday 8th April 2021.
The Civil Society Leadership Awards (CSLA) provides fully funded scholarships for master’s degree study to individuals who clearly demonstrate academic and professional excellence and a deep commitment to leading positive social change in their communities.
Maastricht University offers five awards for eligible students in one of the following one-year programmes:
- Master of Arts in Globalisation and Development Studies
- Master of Arts in European Studies on Science, Society and Technology
- Master of Science degree in Global Health
- Master of Science degree in Public Policy and Human Development
- Master of Science Economics
Selected candidates will participate in an intensive pre-academic summer school in July or August 2021 and start their degree programme in September 2021.
The scholars will have their tuition and university fees covered. Additionally, they will receive a monthly stipend for room, board, and other living expenses. Insurance and programme-related travel coverage will be provided.
The scholarship does not provide funding for dependent family members.
The deadline is on Thursday 8th April 2021.
Main Criteria
Interested applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree as of May 2020 with an excellent academic record. Professional experience in the chosen field of study as well as English language proficiency is essential.

Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Azerbaijan, Equatorial Guinea, Myanmar/Burma, Tajikistan, Belarus, Eritrea, Republic of Congo, Turkmenistan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uzbekistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Laos, Sudan.
