Live Earth 2015 Music Event Announced in Davos

A Live Earth 2015 music event will take place this year to promote the Climate Change agenda as it was announced by Al Gore this morning in the World Economic Forum. During the debate “What’s Next?

A Climate for Action”, Al Gore, the former US Vice President cited that the event aims at raising awareness of climate change through a simultaneous live concert in 7 major cities across all seven continents, including Antartica. He took the stage in Davos along with Pharrell Williams and the producer Kevin Wall where they explained the plan of what they hope to be the largest ever campaign on the planet.

The event is expected to take place on June 18th and will be led among others by the famous pop musician Pharrell Williams. “The purpose is to have a billion voices with one message, to demand climate action now,” Mr Gore who was the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2007 for his campaigning on climate change. He stated that 2015 is the year of the climate highlighting that UN has elevated it to the number one priority.

The World Economic Forum’s 2015 Annual meeting started this morning in Davos and will last until Saturday the 24th. Three main pillars leaded the event: crisis and cooperation, growth and stability, innovation and industry. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of WEF opened the event on Tuesday declaring that “sharing and caring” should be the moto of Davos 2015.

Among others today’s most important speakers will be the Chinese premier Li Keqiang, the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, and Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko who decided this morning his early departure from Davos due to escalating crisis in the country’s eastern regions. Other upcoming topics on today’s agenda include pandemics, cyber security, oil and the state – and future – of the global economy.
