Apply for Journalism Fellowship in the US
What is Journalism Fellowship in the US: RJI was launched in 2004 with a grant of $31million from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
The Institute engages media professionals, scholars and other citizens in programs aimed at strengthening journalism in the service of democracy.
RJI generates and tests new techniques and new thinking that promise to improve journalism.
The institute offers three types of fellowships that aim to provide journalists with funding and opportunities to develop projects at host institutions.
There are three types of RJI Fellowships: residential, nonresidential, or institutional. Each of them lasts for eight months, the starting date is negotiable.
Residential fellowships are designed for individuals who want to collaborate with RJI staff, students and faculty on-site at the institute in Columbia, Missouri.
Fellows receive a $10,000 a month stipend and a one-time reimbursement for relocations up to $10,000.
Non-residential fellowships can tackle something you are interested in pursuing on your own or something that could benefit a current employer. Your project will be implemented and tested in the newsroom of your choice during your fellowship.
Fellows receive a $20,000 stipend, payable quarterly in increments of $5,000.
Institutional fellowships are designed to unlock some of the meaningful ideas in your newsroom or company that for various reasons haven’t been able to be explored yet.
The stipend for this fellowship will be paid to the company or institution to be used for salary relief for the fellow, or for another purpose.
Fellow’s institutions receive a $20,000 stipend, payable quarterly in increments of $5,000 to the institution.
The fellowship is open to managers and executives.
The deadline is on 18 December 2020.
