Jacobs Startup Competition

Jacobs Startup Competition is an annual event organised by students and for students from all over the world. The competition takes place in Jacobs University, an international university situated in the city of Bremen, Germany. Participants will be able to share their ideas and receive feedback from successful entrepreneurs through the one-to-one mentorship process, as well as win thousands in euros to kick-start their venture! The deadline for applications is on November 26.

From the first application round participants will be provided with valuable advice by experienced founders and entrepreneurship professionals and get a chance to participate in webinars that will introduce them to the most important aspects of founding their own business.

The best ten teams will be paired with a personal mentor to guide them through the last application round and prepare them for their pitch during the final event on the Jacobs University campus.The 2-day finale takes place on the 9th and 10th of March 2018, where finalists will take part in entrepreneurial workshops, find inspiration from the finalist pitches, and grow their network with like-minded people.

The competition consists of three rounds. In order to participate, candidates should submit a short summary of their startup idea and explain how they plan on being profitable.

Main criteria

  • Candidates can apply ass as an individuals or as a team;
  • All members of a team who would attend the final event must be enrolled at a university throughout the course of the competition (October 2017 to March 2018);
  • Non-university students may work on the startup but will not be allowed to pitch the idea;
  • Business ideas submitted to JSC should not yet have generated revenue of more than 20,000€ p.a.
