Internships at Sharjah Art Foundation in UAE

Internships at Sharjah Art Foundation are open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in contemporary art. They are offered year-round generally for periods of one to three months. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and meet or work with art professionals and artists. Application process is ongoing.

 

The Sharjah Art Foundation is a contemporary art and cultural foundation based in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates. It was founded by Hoor Al Qasimi, daughter of Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and current ruler of Sharjah. The foundation aims to support artists and artistic practice in the Sharjah communities, the UAE, and the region via different platforms that include Sharjah Biennial, the annual March Meeting, art residencies, production grants, commissions, art exhibitions, artistic research and publications

Past interns have included current university students, recent graduates as well as post-graduate and PhD candidates. SAF often works with local or international universities and community groups on placements for students enrolled in specific courses. Volunteer roles at SAF are part-time and generally short-term, and can range from supporting roles at events or projects to working with artists. Interns will work in one of the following areas: artist assistance/curatorial, production and technical, communications and marketing, education and outreach, event management, visitor relations, administration/finance, audiovisual documentation

Main criteria

To apply to be an intern or volunteer please send a completed application form and an up-to-date resume including contact details of a professor or supervisor who will provide a reference for you.

All applications will be considered. Successful interns will be assigned a position that best suits their interests and skills. Once selected, interns and volunteers will undertake an orientation session and receive any necessary training.
