Internship for Epidemic Prevention Project

University graduates with interest in public health and experience in project management are invited to take part in a paid internship in the sphere of health systems in Sierra Leone. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of €1,608. The deadline is on 11 October 2020.

Internship for Health Systems Strengthening and Epidemic Prevention Project

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to work in cooperation with the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) towards a resilient health system that is responsive to its demands. GIZ supports the MoHS in the decentralization of human resource management including health service delivery and Epidemic disease surveillance and response in two Cross-Border Districts.

During the internship, you will gain an understanding of the health system in Sierra Leone and learn about GIZ procedures and Public Relations (PR) regulations as well as developing and managing project documents. In addition, you will be orientated in the GIZ routine administrational processes in Eschborn and HSS-EPII Project Sierra Leone. Your responsibilities will include supporting logistical travel preparation for project partner from Sierra Leone to GIZ Germany and support organizing workshops and meetings. Additionally you will conduct literature reviews and give support to project activity reports.  Interns will receive a monthly stipend of €1,608.

Main criteria

Interns should be graduate students in international development, public and international health, health economics, development studies, or a related field of study. You have practical experience in managing international delegations from abroad as well as conducting workshops and meetings. Excellent writing and communication skills and fluency in English and German are required.
