High school and university students are invited to participate in the first round of the International Youth Math Challenge 2020. Winners will receive cash prizes and become IYMC ambassadors in their countries. This competition is held remotely and participation is free of charge. The deadline is on 11 October 2020.
IYMC is one of the biggest online math competitions for students from all around the world. Since 2018, 6,500 students from all around the world have joined the challenge creating an extensive network of former participants and alumni. More than 1,200 teachers have registered and encouraged students to get in touch with mathematics. Winners of the challenge go on to become ambassadors in their countries organizing local activities to promote maths.
International Youth Math Challenge 2020 takes place in three rounds, i.e. qualification round, pre-final round, and final round which are open to participants in the youth category (under 18) and junior category (over 18). The qualification round consists of five math problems, solving three and four of which, respectively, grants selection for the pre-final round. Pre-final round participants will have one week to solve four basic problems, four advanced problems, and two special-creativity problems. The final round is an online 40-minute supervised session. The winners receive certificates and cash prizes worth over 700 USD. All finalists will receive $150, $100, and $50 for the gold, silver, and bronze honours, respectively. Moreover, national awards will be given to the best participant from each country in addition to the teacher’s awards for most participants, most finalists, and most outstanding results.

Main criteria
- High school aged 10 and older and university students are eligible to participate in the contest
- Each participant has to submit their own solution papers in all rounds, however, for the qualification round, you are allowed to work on the problems with your friends and classmates together
- Working together or receiving help from other people is not permitted in the pre-final and final round
