International Summer School in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

The International Summer School in a Bosnian city of Mostar is now accepting applications until April 1st. The summer school is realized in cooperation between the University Dzemal Bijedic, Mostar, Bosnia and Buskerud and Vestfold University College, Norway.

The purpose of the event is to provide the students with an introduction to the human rights worldwide. There is no tuition fee for the courses. The lectures will be presented by Associate Professor Dr. Lars Petter Soltvedt.

Two courses will be available to the participants: International Human Rights and Social Entrepreneurship. Both the UN system and the European human rights regime will be considered in the teachings.

After the conclusion of this course, the students will be able to understand and give meaning to such human rights mechanisms like The Human Rights council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, The European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Framework Convention on National Minorities and the European Torture Convention.

Teaching will be delivered through subject-oriented lectures, seminars and tutorials. A large number of textbooks necessary for the lectures will be available at the library.

There are no prerequisites for these courses except eligibility to study at the undergraduate level and the ability to relate meaningfully to an English spoken classroom and to understand texts written in English. The courses are particularly suitable for students enrolled in an undergraduate program, with focus on social sciences/ law/ political science.
