Early-career researchers from low and lower-middle income countries are invited to apply for a fellowship at a host institution in Europe. Two fellowships of up to US$7,500 and up to three months in duration are awarded annually. The deadline is on Tuesday 1st June 2021.
The International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID) and the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) established their joint fellowship programme in 2010.
The fellowship enables early-career investigators, from low and lower-middle income countries outside of the region, to travel to Europe for multidisciplinary clinical and laboratory training.
Successful applicants are given the opportunity to extend their research experience and learn from experienced infectious disease specialists in Europe.
Upon completion of the fellowship, candidates return home with knowledge and processes that will help them improve clinical practice in regions where it most needs strengthening.
With this objective in mind, proposals that enhance the transfer of technologies to geographical areas where they are particularly needed are favoured.
Two fellowships of up to US$7,500 and up to three months in duration are awarded annually.
The deadline is on Tuesday 1st June 2021.
Main Criteria
ISID/ESCMID fellowships are open to residents of low and lower-middle income countries, as classified by the World Bank, from outside of Europe, who are less than 40 years of age.
A research plan, a CV, two reference letters, and a CV of a mentor from the host institution are required.
