Indian private universities want access to CSR funding
The Hindu reports that Indian private universities are requiring access to funding within the ambit of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Last month, it was confirmed that the mandatory 2% contribution from companies will not be spent on private universities. O.P. Jindal Global University Vice-Chancellor C. Raj Kumar, said:
“We will consider a representation to the government on expanding the CSR norms to include private universities.” Shiv Nadar University spokesperson added: “Availability of serious research funding is a big issue.
All private institutions have to plan together to get a policy change.”
The biggest number of students ever enrolled at Dutch universities
NL Times reports that more than 300 thousand undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Dutch universities for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The association of Dutch universities VSNU called the government to invest more funds in order to keep up with the growth in student numbers. VSNU chairman Pieter Duisenberg said:
“The continuing growth in the number of students at the universities provides the highly educated workforce that is needed to remain at the top as Dutch knowledge society.
At the same time, the growth is putting even greater pressure on our employees and finances.” The biggest increase in the number of students was recorder in the Nature and Behavior & Society sectors.
