Henri Cartier-Bresson Photography Award 2015

Applications are now open for photographers interested in taking part in the Henri Cartier-Bresson Photography Award 2015. The Award is a prize of 35,000 EUR to stimulate a photographer’s creativity by offering the opportunity to carry out a project that would otherwise be difficult to achieve. The deadline for applications is April 30th.

The HCB Award is intended for a photographer who has already completed a significant body of work, a photographer in the emerging phase of his or her career with an approach close to that of a documentary. Eighteen months after the reception of the prize, the winner will have an exhibition of his work at the Fondation HCB in Paris and the winner’s catalogue will be published.

Eligible candidates should be nominated by an institution, and the range of such institutions is broad and has no geographical boundaries: independent curators, publishers, museums, galleries, photographic societies, universities, magazines, art schools, festivals, and more.

In order to apply, an application should consist of a brief memo signed by the nominating institution presenting its recommendation and justifying their nominee, a selection of 15 to 20 photographs by the candidate, a brief memo (2 typed pages maximum) from the candidate outlining the project for which he wishes to receive the award, and a concise biography of the candidate’s professional background, exhibitions, publications, grants and prizes received.

This should accompany an application form signed by the candidate. A brief memo outlining the project of the candidate has to be written in English and in French. Applications should be sent by post to: HCB Award, Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson,
2 impasse Lebouis,
75014 Paris – France.
