Forbes’s Youngest Billionaires 2014: 1st Place Took 24-Year-Old Business Woman from China

The ranking by Forbes of the youngest billionaires around the world for year 2014 featured 31 people, all under the age of 40, 13 of them from the United States. Founders of Google Sergei Brin and Larry Page dropped out as they turned 40 this year, but there were others joining in, such as co-founder of Dropbox Drew Houston. One unexpected twist in the rating included a new youngest billionaire.

A little known Chinese billionaire Perenna Kei, aged 24, took the first place, leaving last year’s leader Dustin Moskovitz, co-founder of Facebook, in second place, as the very youngest billionaire. Kei oversees an 85% stake in Logan Property Holdings through various companies and family trusts. Her father, Ji Haipeng, serves as a Chairman of the Board and CEO of Logan Property Holdings. Also known under the name of Ji Paley, Kei is a member of the board of directors of the company, which went public in December. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of London.

Other youngest billionaires in the rating featured Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, whose net worth is 28.5 billion USD. Anton Kathrein, Jr, whose net worth is 1.35 billion USD, is the third generation to lead his family’s Kathrein-Werke AG – ”the oldest and largest antenna manufacturer in the world,” according to the company’s website. Drew Houston, co-founder of Dropbox, is Silicon Valley’s newest billionaire. Barely out of his 20s, he joined the club this year after his San Francisco-based tech company raised a new round of funding worth just under 10 billion USD.
