Film Restoration And Collection Traineeship In Amsterdam

Aspiring film restorers and film collectors are invited to apply for the Eye museum seven-month paid traineeship in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Application process will start in the spring 2021. The traineeship will commence in September 2021.

Eye is the national museum for film, located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It manages more than 40,000 films of all genres.

Eye was founded in 2010 as a result of the merger between four organisations: the Filmmuseum, Holland Film, the Filmbank, and the Netherlands Institute for Film Education.

The paid traineeship provides a full time on-the-job training for seven months under the guidance of experienced curators, restorers, scanning operators, digital film specialists and other skilled professionals.

During the first four months, the trainee will rotate among various departments in both organisations and acquire a broad, all-round knowledge of the work in analogue and digital film restoration.

The curriculum will address aspects of analogue and digital film processes, such as: film identification, film reconstruction, film repair, grading, film printing, scanning, film developing, quality control, sound restoration, digital image restoration and metadata.

Application process will start in the spring 2021.
