European Cross-Border Grants for Journalists 2020

Journalismfund.eu is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing investigative and independent journalism across Europe. It administers grants to foster exemplary investigative journalism throughout Europe and beyond and to promote journalistic innovation. Journalismfund.eu’s flexible grants programmes enable journalists to produce relevant public interest stories with a European mindset from international, national, and regional perspectives.

Opportunity

Journalists are invited to submit their projects and apply for the funding. The project should include cross-border research, networking between colleagues, established and innovative investigative methods and that is at the same time original, innovative and intensive. Journalismfund.eu supports costs related to journalistic research for all media. This can include travel, translation, access to pay-databases or simply time to research. They do not support fixed costs such as office costs, investments such as cameras or computers or production costs. In 2020, there is €180,000 in grants money to distribute over three application rounds.

The deadline is on 15 July 2020.

Main criteria

• Journalismfund.eu supports journalists living in a Council of Europe country
• When relevant for the story, team members from elsewhere can be accepted, too
• Applicants must be working as professional journalists and students are not eligible
