Applicants are invited to submit their projects for an annual digital challenge. Startups should contribute to climate protection and biodiversity and be in the seed/pre-launch stage. The winning projects will receive €20,000 in funding. The deadline is on Monday 26th May 2021.
The French Development Agency (AFD) is committed to supporting high-impact digital actors in Africa.
For this new edition, the AFD Digital Challenge wished to combine the challenges of the digital transition with those of climate protection and biodiversity, in line with Goal 13 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Start-ups, associations and research centres developing digital solutions on reducing the digital footprint, digital tools, eco-design, recycling of electronic waste are eligible to apply.
Alternatively, projects could focus on preventing and reacting to natural disasters, i.e. data and prediction, warning systems, business continuity plans for climate incidents, civil protection systems, etc.
The deadline is on Monday 26th May 2021.
Main Criteria
Projects must be related to one of this year’s topics and be in the seed/launch phase. Projects should have a legal structure and a business model. Digital technology should be at the heart of your solution.
