The British magazine Times Higher Education has published a global ranking of the top higher educational institutions of 2014. The California Institute of Technology has been awarded the top spot for the fourth year in a row. Of further interest, Caltech remains a relatively small university, with about 900 students and 1200 postgraduates. Harvard and Oxford Universities were awarded second and third place respectively. The fourth spot is occupied by Stanford, followed by Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This ranking is dominated by American universities, with seven out of the top ten and forty five out of the top hundred located in the U.S.A. Leading positions among non-English and non US universities were filled by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, with 13th overall rank, the University of Toronto (20th place), the University of Tokyo (23rd place), the National University of Singapore (25th spot), and the University of Munich (29th position).
