The Hungary Foundation together with Mathias Corvinus Collegium is inviting American scholars and professors to participate in a 10-month-long academic programme. Graduate students and researchers with particular interest in Central and Eastern Europe and Hungary are welcome to apply. Participants will have all their expenses covered. The deadline is on Tuesday 1st June 2021.
The goal of the 10-month program is to cultivate the next generation of American policy professionals and academics and equip them with a thorough understanding of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Hungary.
Fellows will conduct independent research guided by a mentor and gain practical experience during the 10-month fellowship experience at a Budapest-based host institution.
The programme also features thematic seminars on the history of Hungary, Hungarian democratic traditions, and current human rights issues.
The programme will include monthly organized field trips to neighbouring countries in the Carpathian Basin and cities in the countryside of Hungary.
The fellowship will run from September 2021 through July 2022.
The scholarship provides monthly stipend to cover living expenses in Budapest, assistance with housing, roundtrip air travel, health insurance, Hungarian language classes, book stipend, and research support.
The deadline is on Tuesday 1st June 2021.
Main Criteria
The Budapest Fellowship Program is open for two categories of applicants, namely graduate students in their senior year or recent graduates and advanced doctoral students, pre-doctoral fellows, post-doctoral researchers, and early career professionals.
Applicants must be US citizens with a research interest in Central and Eastern Europe.
Pre-doctoral applicants are required to have already made substantial progress towards a Ph.D. degree.
