Ayn Rand Institute Essay Contest

Have you read one of Ayn Rand’s thought-provoking novels? Enter an Ayn Rand Institute essay contest for your chance to win thousands of dollars in scholarship prize money. The deadlines are on April 18, April 25, and September 19, 2019.

ARI has held worldwide essay contests for students on Ayn Rand’s fiction for more than thirty years. This year over 230 prizes, totaling more than $70,000 will be awarded.

Middle and high school students as well as undergraduate students are eligible to apply in their own categories. Participants can write an essay on one of the three novels:Anthem, The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged.

Each novel offers three topics to choose from. Essays will be judged on whether the student is able to argue for and justify his or her view—not on whether the Institute agrees with the view the student expresses. Judges will look for writing that is clear, articulate and logically organized.
