Australian Book Review welcomes entries in the 2018 ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize, one of the world’s leading prizes for an original short story. The Jolley Prize is worth a total of $12,500. Entry is open to anyone in the world who is writing in English. The deadline is on April 10, 2018.
$7,000, $2,000, and $1,000 will be awarded to the first, second, and third places, respectively. The three commended stories will share the remaining $2,500.
Main criteria
- Entries must be a single story of 2,000 to 5,000 words, written in English;
- Entries should be either PDFs or Word documents;
- The text should be presented with 1.5 spacing and in 12 pt font size. The pages should be numbered;
- Multiple entries are permitted;
- Entries must be original works of fiction written by an individual author;
- Entries must not infringe upon anyone’s copyright;
- The competition is open to citizens of any country.
