OIST Research Internship Programme

University students from around the world are invited to apply for the OIST Graduate School research internships that last from two to six months. Candidates will have their expenses covered. The deadline is on Thursday 15th April 2021.

Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Graduate University is a university with no departments that allows for collaboration at the junction of various fields of science.

OIST brings brilliant minds from all over the world to Okinawa and provides them with stable funding and resources to transform the way science, research, education and innovation are done globally.

Research Intern places are awarded twice a year on a competitive basis. Selection is highly competitive, and depends on suitability of the intended research, academic background, available funding and space.

Internships may begin and end at any time during the year, with two application periods. Internship will provide a stipend that amounts to $22/day, shuttle bus pass, round-trip air ticket, and furnished apartment.

 

For internships starting between April – September, application deadline is on 15th October annually. For placements in October – March, the annual deadline is on 15th April.

You can only submit your application after at least one recommendation letter is received in the application system. The result announcement will be posted on your application platform three months after the application deadline.

The deadline is on Thursday 15th April 2021.

 

Main Criteria

Excellent students who are in the final two years of the undergraduate or Master’s programmes in Japan or overseas are eligible to apply.

Application form includes an up-to-date CV, a 400-word statement of interest, and recommendation letter.
