Generation-Y Workers: How They Affect the Job Market

People who hire millennials often struggle with preconceptions and prejudices for them. Some of those are: they change jobs too often, they need constant reinforcement, they require a special working environment, etc. But these preconceptions are not necessarily true, so you might want to get rid of them.

For instance, according to a study at the Pew Research Center millennials actually value job security more highly than other generations do. That doesn’t mean they will stay at a job they don’t like though. About 50% of millennials put having an enjoyable job as a high priority.

Millennials are ambitious, sometimes to the extent of wanting to be the next Mark Zuckerberg, sometimes in reasonable levels. They are also more optimistic and are slower to get married. The possibility of belonging to a political party is rather small, which can be a good thing for employers as they can be viewed as most important institutional affiliation.

American software company Intuit visualized most interesting points about millennials on job market. Below is an infographic they created.
